On July 4, 1976, Max began his Statue of Liberty series leading to his efforts with Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca to help in the restoration of the statue. Also in 1976, “Peter Max Paints America” was commissioned by the ASEA of Sweden. The book project commemorated the United States Bicentennial and included the following foreword: “Peter Max Paints America is based on works of art commissioned by ASEA of Sweden on the 200th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, in sincere recognition of the historic bonds of friendship between the people of Sweden and the people of the United States, recalling that Sweden was one of the first countries to extend its hand in friendship to the new nation. ”

Special Surfaces. WHITEWASH. Whitewashes and lime paints must be thin when applied. In fact, best results will be obtained if the application is so thin that the surface to which it is applied may easily be seen through the film while it is wet. The coating will dry opaque, but two thin Coats will give better results than one thick coat. CLEAN-UP and STORAGE or DISPOSAL TIPS. · If there are paint drops on your floor, don't let it stay there. Tap container lids tight with a hammer and block of wood. · Store solvent-based paint cans upside down to prevent a skin from forming. · Store your paints in normal or room temperature. Never put the paints in extreme hot or cold rooms. · Each states in the U.S. or every community/ county differs on paint can disposal methods. Check your local environmental, health, and safety laws. Use the painting project as an excuse to give your home a thorough spring cleaning and get rid of any clutter. If you are not sure of the primer to use on metal, the paint dealer or manufacturer will give you this information, dependent on the type of metal to be painted.
